impossible to be healthy in the USA
Living in America proved to me that it's impossible to be healthy. I've so many times to start eating healthy but whenever i go out, I'm tempted to eat junk food. First of all, junk food is so much cheaper than healthy food. If you get a meal at a fastfood it will probably cost you 4-5 dollars. If you buy a salad, it will cost you 9+ dollars. Let's be real, no one wants to spend that much money on some lettuce. Same with the fruits; they are extremely expensive, i noticed that when i started working at a super market. I think that should change because America has a huge number of obese people. If healthy food gets cheaper then maybe people will go towards that. I know i will.

I totally agree with you. It has been so hard for me to maintain a healthy diet and to be honest, it is not only the cost that is making it difficult. It's also convenience. I have been so busy lately that I don't have time to make my homemade healthy meals. Instead, I want something I can get quickly and without having to put effort in. That leads to many unhealthy meals such as fast food; or even chips and cookies. I would revert to those packaged snacks for the day's main meals because they are quick. In turn, I am left having processed foods over fresh fruits and veggies.
ReplyDeleteI also agree becuase this country I just simple isnt healthy. Nearly two out of every five Americans are obese. (alternet.org).Processed foods have become a staple in American diets, and the result has been a nationwide epidemic of obesity-related health issues. We're averaging 11 percent of our calories [from] saturated fat, the bad one linked to heart disease, and the recommendation is to get it down to 7 percent or less.kids especially are hardwired for sweet taste. Every one of their 10,000 taste buds are ready to send signals to the brain saying, "Eat more." Over the years, products throughout the grocery store that were never sweet were sweetened.(usnews.com). America needs to change how our food Iis made and what we put in it.
